VACUUM BAGS

Cheese-ripening bags

The film's special structure releases excess carbon dioxide (CO₂) generated during cheese ripening while protecting the product against oxygen (O₂) ingress.

About the material

The film's water-vapour permeability helps prevent the cheese from drying out and promotes even moisture distribution.

What to consider when selecting a material

Cheese-ripening bags are selected for the specific ripening process. State the cheese type, block or wheel format, process conditions and equipment. CO₂ release and oxygen-barrier properties matter; a standard barrier bag is not automatically a substitute.

Selection questions

Why does cheese ripening require a specific bag?

Material properties, including gas permeability, matter for this process. Do not automatically substitute an ordinary bag for a ripening material.

What determines the bag choice for a particular cheese?

Consider cheese type, wheel shape and ripening process. Match material properties to the requirements of the specific production process.

Do all ripening bags have the same gas permeability?

No. Check this property for the specific material. Colour or similar appearance does not establish equivalent performance.

Does the shrinking stage need to be specified?

Yes. For a shrink-bag construction, match the material, cheese-wheel dimensions and processing settings. The film must suit the ripening process and packaging equipment.

What should I prepare for a consultation?

Describe the cheese, its dimensions and ripening process, and identify the equipment. If you already have a bag specification, provide it for comparison.
