Selection questions

How should vacuum pump capacity be selected?

Consider system volume, required evacuation time, working pressure and gas load. Nominal pumping speed and pumping speed at atmospheric pressure are different specifications and must be compared under the same conditions.

What does ultimate pressure mean?

It is the lowest pressure specified for a particular configuration and operating conditions. Actual system pressure also depends on leaks, gas load and connections.

Can every pump operate continuously?

No. Operating mode depends on the model and version. AT8 and AT21 require intermittent operation. Check the exact pump documentation and permitted start frequency before selection.

Can the pumps handle moisture or dust?

Gas composition and contamination require separate assessment. Water vapour calls for an appropriate configuration and gas ballast; dust requires suitable inlet filtration. Confirm compatibility with the actual process before use.

How does the SR500 differ from a standalone pump?

The SR500 is a pumping unit combining a Roots blower and a rotary pump. Component capacities and the maximum pumping speed of the complete unit are listed separately; these values must not be added together.
